Muehlenberg admits he wants to recriminalise homosexuality

Fundamentalist Xtian bigot Bill Muehlenberg has finally admitted what we have known all along - that he would rather see all LGBT people behind bars just for being themselves, rather than live with societies extending to its gay citizens the self-same rights and freedoms Muehlenberg himself takes for granted.

In his piece God, Divine Purposes, and Conditionality, Muehlenberg praises Singapore because the country recently retained a piece of draconian legislation enforced whilst it was under the yoke of the British empire. The legislation, called Section 377a of the Penal Code, sees consenting adults serving two years in prison for the "crime" of having sex, even in private, with somebody of the same sex.
Just over a month ago Section 377a of the Penal Code was upheld by a high-up appeals court, keeping homosexuality in check – for now at least. But as I have been warning, the activists never sleep, and will of course keep chipping away. It is always a war of attrition, and whoever has the most resolve, stamina and perseverance will ultimately win. The other side will certainly not give up. The question is, will the Christians? I have met many great Christian leaders and activists here so far, and they give me real hope.
Real hope of what, Bill? Real hope that LGBT people in Singapore continue to be subjected to abuse and live under the threat of incarceration? That's the dangerous agenda he seeks to push.

So Bill gloats that another country retains appalling and inhumane restrictions on basic human freedoms, and criminalises around 2% of its populace, simply for a harmless facet of their character.

When asked if Bill would like to see the west recriminalise homosexuality, Muehlenberg admits:
...invariably when states permit homosexuality they quickly move into hardcore promotion of it. So that is a real worry.
It's a real worry, all those pesky LGBT people living open lives, where they can't legally be discriminated against in the provision of goods and services; where they can't be thrown out of a restaurant just for being gay, or lose their jobs or houses because of their sexuality. Yes, I can see exactly why this issue keeps you awake at night, Bill. Those pesky gays, living without fear, without shame, and holding their heads up with pride and going about their day-to-day life with the same freedoms you enjoy. How such an appalling state of affairs must eat you alive.

So yes, the sole reason Muehlenberg has written self-published books attacking gay people and keeps his gay-hate blog is to try to drum up enough hatred towards gay people that governments may feel pressured to turn the clock back a century and punish, torture and abuse its gay citizenry for what consenting adults do in private. We can be thankful that a deranged and inhuman bully like Muehlenberg has no political clout whatsoever, and that the west is rapidly abandoning his backward and barbaric way of thinking. He ends with a favourite canard of his, deliberately confusing sexual orientation with habit:
And given that governments crack down on other harmful behaviours such as cigarette smoking, a case could be made for going back to some sort of restrictions on this high risk and deadly lifestyle.
Anyone not a brainwashed fundamentalist can see what an idiotic comparison that it. There is nothing "deadly" about being gay, and even if there were, why should any government crack down on the personal freedoms of its law abiding citizens? Ginger-haired people are more susceptible to sunburn and therefore skin cancer. Did they choose to be ginger-haired? No. Perhaps Bill would like to see them behind bars and the key thrown away too? If not, why not? I merely follow his reasoning.

Religion - that really is a deadly lifestyle that does real harm to real people. Muehlenberg's free to believe whatever superstitious nonsense floats his boat, but when he starts calling for minorities to be criminalised and their freedoms stripped away, he oversteps the bounds of common decency and basic humanity, and can and must be held to account.

Muehlenberg's blatant Malala Yousafzai lie

Bill Muehlenberg will do anything to push his viciously anti-gay, anti-Islam agenda, and he's willing to resort to outright falsehoods to spread his poison.

In Islam and the West, Muehlenberg says the following:
As the brave young Pakistani schoolgirl and Taliban shooting victim Malala Yousafzai is reported to have said, “Blessed are those who live in non-Islamic nations. Even in the 21st century, Muslim countries like Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Somalia and Afghanistan have bans on girl’s education. Islam treats women as slaves. Islam gave us nothing but terrorism, jihad, madrassas, riots and bomb blasts. If we want a future for us, we will have to renounce Islam. Peace and Islam can’t coexist!”
Yet that quotation, which sounds suspiciously like something Muehlenberg himself would write, can't be found anywhere else. It certainly isn't on the pages Muehlenberg references at the foot of his article. If you Google Malala Yousafzai and the quote, the only thing that comes up is... Bill's website.

That sounds awfully fishy to me.

In the comments, someone called Justin Finigan asks:
I am interested in where you got the Malala quote from Bill.
Good question, Justin. Muehlenberg's evasive response is:
It is floating all over the Net, but as I say, it is something she is reported to have said. So whether or not she did actually say it awaits some confirmation.
Only it isn't "floating all over the net", is it, Bill? It's only on your website, quoted by you. Hmmm And no such "confirmation" has been forthcoming, has it, Bill? So really you should take it down, shouldn't you? Yet it's still there. Hmmm.

Note the deliberate caveat with which Muehlenberg makes the quotation, saying that Yousafzai "is reported to have said". That's not a normal thing to write. Why not just say, "Yousafzai said..."? It's almost as if Muehlenberg knows she said nothing of the sort and made the whole thing up himself, and added "reported to have said" to cover himself from accusations of - you know - making the whole thing up himself.

Of course, his braindead readership don't know how to think for themselves, which is why they're fundie Xtians, but Bill tends to forget his lies can be seen by the rest of the world, too.

So Bill, are you going to cite your source for the alleged Yousafzai quotation that sounds remarkably like you're her speechwriter, or are you going to remove the made-up comment?

It's worse than shameful that Muehlenberg should resort to such low tactics to push his anti-Islam agenda. Isn't lying a sin, Bill? Or is it, as usual, OK so long as you're lying for Jesus?

As always, Bill Muehlenberg is welcome to come here and defend himself, and provide his source for the Yousafazi quotation. We aren't holding our breath.

Does Muehlenberg sleep at night?

The question often asked of deeply malicious people is: how do they sleep at night? How is their conscience not so troubled by their evil actions that they're able to a good rest?

It's a question I've asked about Bill Muehlenberg, a man who dedicates his life to attacking LGBT people. Almost daily he launches fresh attacks, demanding that gay people be denied basic human rights whilst spreading lies and misinformation, and resorting to ugly name-calling ("gaystapo", "pink jackboot" and "homonazis" are amongst Bill's favourite insults in a limited repertoire).

The reason Muehlenberg doesn't see the consequences of the hate he spews is that he doesn't actually think gay people exist. And a consequence of that is, if people only think they're gay, but aren't really, then they are less than human and can be treated like dirt.

You can see all this in the comments section of Hillsong, Homosexuality and the Shrinking Gospel (which he originally called Hillsong, Homosexuality and the Gutting of the Gospel if you check the URL - clearly he made a cowardly backtrack), in which Muehlenberg is incandescent with rage because an Xtian pastor refuses to similarly devote his entire life to bashing gay people. In the comments section, Muehlenberg becomes embroiled in a discussion with Sue Barber, who says that she thinks homosexual acts are a sin, but same-sex attraction in itself isn't. This is enough of a dissident comment to have Muehlenberg foaming at the mouth. Some of the things he says are truly incredible:
God made us as heterosexuals, as I just said. God created us to desire one another of the opposite sex. That is how we were made. And this of course is meant to be satisfied in only one way: through heterosexual marriage. All other types of sexuality are wrong and sinful. God never made us homosexual. This wrong orientation is just another outcome of the Fall... He created us a male and female, with heterosexual desires. He did not make us with same-sex attractions. Yet homosexuals wrongly claim this is who they are – this is their very core and identity. Baloney. They are made primarily to love God and live holy lives.... I am not sure why it is so hard to grasp.
Maybe it's hard to grasp, Bill, because it's utter rubbish. Perhaps if you actually spoke to a gay person, or got to know one, you would realise that your dismissal of gay people is arrogant and ignorant. But Bill only hears what he wants to hear from the deluded "ex-gays" who are victims of religious brainwashing and propaganda.

The bigot Alister Cameron, who is Bill's "blog consultant", espouses the following canard:
Of course God did not create people anything other than heterosexual, but abuse can do nasty things. And it need not be physical abuse, either.
That sort of rubbish is truly damaging. Ignorant Xtians go around assuming that the parents of gay people were abusive towards them, mentally, physically or sexually, and that this must have been the case. No, Alister, some gay people have awful and abusive parents, just like anyone else: most have loving and supportive parents. Sexuality is not formed by bad or good parenting.

We get even more ignorant drivel from Muehlenberg:
Regrettably you keep using the terminology and thinking of the homosexual lobby. There is no such thing as being born homosexual. You are born as a male or female, made in God’s image. But because of the Fall, we can get a warped sexuality just like everything else. So from early on there may be predispositions and the like, but as all the solid research on this shows, it is primarily one’s environment (an absent father, a weak or abusive father, and so on) that leads to the condition of same-sex attraction. There is no gay gene and it is not how God makes anyone... No one is born homosexual. There is zero biblical evidence for this and zero scientific evidence for this. So it is simply unneedful to say, ‘well, some may be, we just don’t know’. We DO know. One might as well say, ‘Well some people might be born on Mars, we just don’t know.’ We DO know, and it just ain’t so!
Just as with Muehlenberg's denial of evolution and the rest of post-Darwinian science, his capacity for self-deception knows no bounds. He lashes out at gay people with such viciousness because he doesn't perceive them to be human beings, simply trouble-makers who are making the god that exists solely in his head upset. And he simply cannot bear to be challenged on this issue, so having failed to persuade Sue Barber that she is entirely mistaken that people don't choose to be gay, he rounds out the discussion with the supercilious comment:
But we might leave it at that thanks. Bless you.
I imagine if Sue Barber commented again she would have met with Bill's censorship. As I've repeatedly shown on this site, you're allowed three opportunities to entirely agree with Bill, before he imposes a lifelong ban on posting comments on CultureWatch, no matter how politely you disagree with him. He usually tells you to go and create your own website. Which is why this one exists...

For anyone who wants to learn the truth about the reasons for homosexuality, they should check out the many links and references to scientific studies Bill pretends don't exist on Wikipedia, or see the American Psychological Association (whose condemnation of "reparative" "therapy" to "cure" gay people is enough to make Bill think they're simply propagandists for the gay agenda).

But the good news is that, for gay people, despite the constant attacks and dehumanising efforts of Bill Muehlenberg and the religious right, the world is changing. LGBT people are increasingly accepted in the west, and there has been a sea change in attitudes in the last 20 years alone. So what's keeping Muehlenberg awake isn't the pricking of his conscience for the deep malevolence of his behaviour towards minorities, but the fact that he is losing. The reason Muehlenberg is as vindictive and nasty as he is is because he knows he's losing. He knows that the imaginary "war" he sees himself fighting is already lost. We just need to wait for old died in the wool bigots like Bill Muehlenberg to die off.

Check out his despondency in his self-pitying article, What if No One Listens?
I and others warn so often about various major threats to faith, family and freedom, but we usually get deathly silence and crickets chirping. The two greatest threats right now are that of the militant homosexualists and militant Islam. I write constantly on these two major threats, but get so little response... Very few folks seem interested. Very few seem to care. So the warnings fall on deaf ears.... No matter how much evidence and proof is offered of the aggressive war against Christianity by the Muslim and homosexual activists, they simply remain in their coma, oblivious to the world and what is happening all around them....
Shhhhhhhh. Quiet Bill, quiet. Can you hear that? You hear it?

It's the sound of the world's smallest violin playing especially for you.

Bill has a tantrum because someone dares to criticise him

A superb article by Elizabeth Farrelly has had poor little Bill throwing all of his toys out of the pram and stamping his feet up and down in protest.

She has dared to stand up to him and publicly disagree with him. As we know, the one thing Bill really can't tolerate is anyone disagreeing with him and criticising him.

The article, Tenets of democracy get lost in hate storm, appeared in The Age. Muehlenberg, who expects to post article after article attacking the LGBT community, atheists, scientists and Muslims with complete impunity, rushed to Culturewatch to rattle out Yep, I am Now a Terrorist, an hilarious piece of outright lies, straw men and tantrum-throwing.

Bill's title itself is an outright lie, since Farrelly says this:
The haters are not terrorists, in the normal sense.
But don't let facts get in the way of an attention-grabbing self-pitying headline, will you, Bill? It just goes to show, bullies really can't cope with having their behaviour held up to scrutiny. Here's how Bill opens his article:
A leftist from the lamestream media thinks I am a terrorist and what I do is equivalent to IS beheading people.
Well, there's another lie, and we've only read the title and the first line! Farrelly only mentions IS beheadings once, to say this:
In this hate storm, as in the Islamic State beheadings, the internet is crucial.
Where, Bill, where, is the comparison?
Yes, she actually said that.
No, Bill, no she did not. But way to tell an outright lie.
she attacks me big time. All because I have exercised my democratic right in a free country to stand up for biblical truth and critique false shepherds in our pulpits.
This is Bill's hypocrisy laid bare. He believes he is the only person allowed to exercise his right to free speech. No, Bill, you can say what you like. So can Farrelly. That's how it works. And when you go on the attack, people are allowed to defend themselves. Sorry you have such a hard time understanding this and dealing with it.
Yes, I am now in the same league as an IS fanatic who beheads innocent people – maybe even worse.
You make that claim for youself, Bill. Farrelly says nothing of the sort. Another lie.
I must be evil because she thinks I am a “creationist,” whatever that means.
Farrelly isn't calling you "evil", Bill. She's calling you a creationist because that's what you are. And if you're not, then why do you write articles trying to attack evolution and in support of creationism? If you're not, then why do you allow your profile on, which comes up immediately after CultureWatch and this blog when you Google your name?  You're like St Peter when the cock crows three times.
She claims I am the “Secretary of The Family Council of Australia”. Um, there is no such organisation in existence.
Yeah, Farrelly accidentally promotes you. It's only Victoria, not the whole country.
Also, I am an “anti-gay blogger”. Oh, so I have not written thousands of articles on all sorts of other topics?
No, Bill. To date you've written 548 articles about homosexuality - every single one of them attacking gay people. You actively campaign against equality for gay people. You have written two books, both of which attack the LGBT community. Your "faith" is just a cover for what you're really interested in - attacking gay people. Otherwise, why not write a biography of CS Lewis? Why not write about your interpretation of some of the bible teachings? Why only write 19 articles about prostitution? Because women's plight in sexual slavery in a misogynistic society doesn't interest you. Because theology is only a secondary interest. Your primary interest and your life's purpose is to smear, degrade, dehumanise and attack LGBT people. Let's tell it how it is. That's all Farrelly has done.
I also must be really evil because she says I am an “occasional columnist for The Australian“. Wow, that puts me right up there with paedophiles and the KKK.
Nowhere does Farrelly make any such comparison. Putting false words in somebody's mouth with which to attack them is downright immoral, Bill. Funny that you (falsely) accuse Farrelly of this self-same tactic, A double-whammy of lies there.
For calling him out on his pro-homosexual agenda, I am right up there with bin Laden and IS. Um, what was that logical fallacy about guilt by association?
Um, what's the logical fallacy of straw men arguments, Bill? Where does Farrelly make any such claim? Read the article: she doesn't. Another lie.
Yes, for daring to state the biblical position on the issue of human sexuality, I am a hater and a bigot and a terrorist all rolled into one.
No Bill, you are a bigot for your actions. See above. And stop pretending Farrelly called you terrorist. You're doing your credibility no favours.
She also claims I ‘habitually represent Satan “rubbing his hands with glee” over homosexuality’. Um, I do?
Yes, Bill,  you do. In your article A Great Way To Destroy The Faith Of Millions for starters. Found that after a one-second Google. In it, you say, about Vicky Beeching coming out as lesbian:
Satan of course is rubbing his hands with glee over this. And it seems every month another big-time Christian celeb decides to ditch his or her faith and take up Satan’s game plan.
Which is exactly what Farrelly said you said. So what is your objection?
But hey, don’t let truth get in the way of a good story.
Um, she's not, Bill. She's quoting you verbatim
But the real winner here is how I am using ‘coercion’ and ‘threats’ and ‘imposing’ my views to prevent people from speaking. Really?
Bill asks this after Farrelly reported that he:
campaigned to have Bower dumped as a speaker at next month's Black Stump Christian arts festival and warns in exclamatory terms of "the danger of compromise!"
Here is what Bill wrote in Leaven, Capitulation, and Christian Compromise
Indeed, everyone should contact Black Stump and let them know about your grave concerns here. They can be contacted through this link:
So yes, Bill. You did make an orchestrated campaign to have Rod Bower dropped from the event, so when you say...
Most people would not have gathered that from anything I have said or written. I merely mention that this renegade pastor is speaking at a major Christian festival, and now I have God-like powers! Hey, I simply asked a few hard questions as to why this guy is appearing there. I obviously have no power at all to prevent anyone from speaking, and as far as I know, he is still going to be speaking there. are, once again, lying. You asked your readers to actively campaign against Rod Bower speaking, clearly in the hope that if there were enough complaints he would be dropped. Your dishonesty on this point is as disgusting as your threats and coercion to silence anyone who represents a worldview opposed to your own.
Yet this all makes for a great attack piece: present me as a hate-filled bully who is preventing people from speaking.
No, Bill. You have done that for yourself through your actions. You asked your readers to bully Black Stump into dropping somebody you personally dislike and disagree with. What Farrelly wrote is an entirely fair reflection of your behaviour, despite your deliberate obfuscation of the truth to protest otherwise.

Muehlenberg says of Farrelly's piece:
She knows full well that any victim of her hatchet jobs will not likely take legal action against all this slander and defamation.
So he's already thought of legal action because somebody dare to have the temerity to stand up to his bullying ways and tell the truth about him. Just as he has repeatedly attempted to have this blog shut down. Yet he expects to be able to say outright lies about what Farrelly has reported and get away with it. Amazing.
Yet somehow I am the bad guy, full of hate, and identical to an IS terrorist, while she is basically deity personified.
You can hear Bill shaking with rage with every nonsensical word. How dare somebody criticise me! How dare they?

Yes, Bill, we dare. If you can't take it, don't give it out. And stop telling lies. Your piece defending yourself is up there with the most deceitful articles you have ever written. As I have just proven.

As always, Muehlenberg is welcome to comment here and defend himself.

Muehlenberg drips with hate

There are times when Bill Muehlenberg lets his mask slip, and shows the deep-rooted hatred that motivates his every waking moment come shining through for all to see.

Apparently he has been uproariously laughing - hard to imagine, I know - because gay people have found distasteful the 'marriage' between two heterosexual male friends in New Zealand. Muehlenberg has misleadingly entitled his article Heteros Biting Back, because it's clear from the story that the two men aren't motivated by trying to hurt gay people. Muehlenberg just sees his own motivation in everyone else.
This is an absolute classic! I love it! It just makes my day. I could not have made any of this stuff up. Sweeeeet.
Is that a Tweet from a 14-year old girl? No, it's how the gloating Muehlenberg opens the article. Probably about the correct level of literacy for his readership.
...we have homosexualists upset about, and discriminating against, those with other lifestyle choices.
Note the sly slight of hand. You can choose to marry somebody. Being gay is neither a 'choice' nor a 'lifestyle'. Tell a lie often enough, eh, Bill...?
Ha! Gotta love it. The homosexual militants who have done everything they can to utterly destroy and mock and sabotage the institution of marriage are now whining like a bunch of cry babies that the institution of marriage is being, well, destroyed and mocked and sabotaged.
Bill thinks it's all about him. Gay people fight for equality not because they want equality, but because they want to upset Bill Muehlenberg. The arrogance is staggering.
If two male sodomites can marry, then why in the world can’t two male heterosexuals marry?!
He really is all charm, isn't he? "Get with the times, cry babies," is his advice to gay people who object to the trivialising of the hard-fought fight for equality (why hard fought? Because of religious nutters like Muehlenberg making it all about them and claiming the monopoly on marriage). He oozes respect and warmth, doesn't he?

His readers are equally toxic. John Abbott has this to say:
...those who are active homosexuals consider that two homos and a duck constitute a family but then degeneracy knows no bounds. So to the cry babies I say, suck it up.
and ends with:
Marriage is for the sake of children not mutations.
The words can speak for themselves. There's enough bigotry and hate to power a nuclear reactor.

Mike Marshall reminds us that religious people are selfish egomaniacs:
Kinda the way two gay blokes getting married trvialises the entire institution for millions of religious folk? Bad luck super citizens……..”
As usual, the hate goes only one-way. Mike, can you name a gay person or organisation seeking to block Christians from marrying? *not holding breath*

You need only go on to an article like that one and read Bill's language and that of his readers (the pre-selected comments he has allowed to be published - always the ones that agree with him) to see for yourself the bitterness, hatred and outright bigotry. This blog exposes Bill Muehlenberg for what he is: a deeply unpleasant man motivated by the desire to hurt gay people any way he can. He proves it through his own words and actions. The undisguised hatred from the likes of Muehlenberg is why his lot are losing. Most people in the West see gays as human beings just like them, not as some cartoon monster, or 'demoniacally possessed', as the religious lobby do. Anyone with a functioning moral compass will be nauseated by Muehlenberg and his rabble. The more his side loses, the nastier Muehlenberg becomes, and the more extreme his hatred.

They don't even see the hypocrisy.

Those who scream the loudest about tolerance and acceptance are again proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that they refuse to tolerate and accept anyone other than themselves. Indeed, if we did not already have proof positive of how great the hate, and how deep the diabolical savagery of these folks can be, we have certainly witnessed it lately.
Is Bill talking about himself? Since, as we know, he won't tolerate or accept even the presence of gay people, Muslims or liberals in society at large. No, he's on about the difficulty a similarly bigoted, homophobic rally has had in securing a venue to promote its poison.

"So much for free speech," Muehlenberg rails, with seemingly no trace of irony, since he regularly stifles debate, free speech and opposing viewpoints on his blog; and he promotes a divisive society in which minorities are completely shunned (at best).

The absurdly-titled World Congress of Families will be peacefully protested by those who wish to point out the true bigoted nature of the event. Bill's all for peaceful protest: remember he wrote an article supporting peaceful protesters of abortion clinics (who are usually anything but peaceful, given the number of murders and attacks carried out by the "pro-life" brigade) - see here.

Yet all of a sudden, as soon as what's being peacefully protested is something Bill Muehlenberg personally approves, he's no longer lauding and applauding the protesters, but claiming they're "doing all they can to shut down freedom of speech and democracy."

Sorry, Bill. You can't have it both ways.

In an astounding show of hypocrisy, Bill goes on to say:
So very typical: in the name of tolerance and acceptance, they will not tolerate those with opposing ideas, and they will not accept anyone who dares to differ.
Wow. That bears repeating. Bill Muehlenberg, the man driven by hatred of gay people, atheists, Muslims and liberals, who wishes to see everyone not exactly like him removed from society by any means possible, actually has the temerity to say this:
So very typical: in the name of tolerance and acceptance, they will not tolerate those with opposing ideas, and they will not accept anyone who dares to differ.
Amazing. He doesn't even see the hypocrisy. Muehlenberg's probably too busy praising the good, decent, god-fearing parents of this young gay man, who has recently come out to his family and been physically abused and disowned. They justify it by peddling the same lie that people like Muehlenberg peddle: that sexuality is a "choice". Watch it and weep for the ignorance and intolerance of people with the same mentality as bigoted Bill.

Hyperbole Bill and his hatred of gay people

Even from the title of his article, Worshipping at the Altar of Homosexualism, it's clear that Bill's hyperbole is heading through the stratosphere; but one can't help but wonder about the state of his mental health since his rants are becoming increasingly divorced from any reason or rationality.

What's set him off on his foam-mouthed crusade this time is that Essendon, an Australian football team (or something - I've never heard of them) have established a new membership for its LGBT fans.

What, you might wonder, is wrong with that? Have they said that only gay fans can attend? Have they said Christians aren't welcome? No, of course not, but the mere fact that Essendon acknowledge that they have gay fans, and wish to make gay people welcome at their football games, is enough to send Bill into a full-on meltdown, bursting blood vessels in his tide of invective.
When do adulterers, fornicators, paedophiles and those into bestiality get their own special days and celebrations? Why don’t we in fact have special days and promotions for far larger groups of AFL fans, such as accountants, drunk drivers, farmers and shoplifters? They all love their footy, so why isn’t the AFL treating them equally?
Bill really does struggle to distinguish innate and immutable characteristics from other elements of human behaviour, doesn't he? And notice the sly way he gets in "paedophiles and those into bestiality": the inference being that such people are the moral equivalent of gay people.

But it's what Bill says next that is the most telling:
And hey, I am a Bible-believing Christian. Does he really want me to feel welcome? Then when do Christians get their own day? And guess what? Real Christians are deeply offended by the immoral and dangerous homosexual lifestyle.
Ah! So that's it in a nutshell. Bill really and truly believes that if gay people are made welcome to a football game, it automatically excludes him. Time after time on this blog I have documented, from Bill's own mouth, the fact that he is wholly unwilling to share the planet with gay people, and in fact with non-fundamentalist Christians in general, but with those nasty gays in particular.
So obviously by granting special rights to one minority group, you are discriminating against a much larger group. So where is the equality?
Really, Bill? By welcoming gay people to football matches they are discriminating against Christians? In what conceivable way? Why should it be anyone else's problem that you're such a bigot you won't tolerate the presence of gay people in society? And way to play the numbers game. "Our group's bigger than yours." So what? So that justifies your relentless campaign for special rights for Christians to be able to discriminate against, bully and abuse gay people? No, normal human decency rules that out.

But Bill's hyperbole starts to become stranger and stranger from that point. Remember that all that has happened is that a football club has opened a membership for its gay fans.
For most of human history this unhealthy lifestyle was at best tolerated. But now we are all being forced to celebrate it, promote it, luxuriate in it, and bless it – whether we want to or not.
No, Bill. Nobody's forcing you to do anything, which is why you can get away with being such a cruel, hate-filled bigot, who would never have a friendship with a gay person, never listen to a gay person, and never even occupy the same room as a gay person. It's your loss, but clearly, nobody is stopping you from being a bully and a bigot. You go right on ahead.
How can we account for this total lunacy? The only thing I can come up with is that we now have a new Western religion which no one dare gainsay: homosexualism. We will now all worship at the altar of homosexualism, and any apostates will be swiftly and harshly dealt with.
WTF? What are you even talking about? So most of western society now accepts and celebrates the contribution its LGBT citizenry makes - and that's enough for you to throw your toys out of the pram and have a mental breakdown? Shame on you.
Just like some sick cult, everyone is expected to fully conform, follow the official religious line, or face excommunication and worse.
I think you're thinking of Roman Catholicism, Bill...
The cult of homosexualism is now in full bloom, and just as with any cult, it asks us all to completely throw away our brains and simply conform and do as we are told. We will fully submit to what our religious superiors tell us to do, and we dare not question the official dogma of homosexualism. The holy laws of homosexualism are now in place, and everyone will bow and worship. All those daring to question any of this will meet their fate. Re-education camps and indoctrination centres will just be a part of the way the authorities deal with any recalcitrants.
Nurse, the sedatives. Mrs Muehlenberg, I think you need to keep your husband off the strong cheeses.
So, do you like footy? Well, the only way you can now enjoy it is through the religion of homosexualism. And soon enough every other area of life will also be brought under the rule of the homosexualism religion. There will be no exceptions.
That's right, Bill. Gay people can be found in every walk of life; in every country; in every city and town. If you can't tolerate that, move to another planet. You won't be missed.
People often worry about a coming world religion which will enslave the entire world. Well, I think we have now found it: the cult of homosexualism.
It's so very sad. All gay people are willing to share the planet with Christians and religionists of all stripes. What a shame people like Bill Muehlenberg reveal themselves to be so hateful and intolerant, that the move by a football team to welcome its gay fans is enough to have him writing such hateful and delusional drivel. And if you think that Bill Muehlenberg does not endorse violence against gay people, check out the comment from Ursula Bennet that he was happy to post:
Before they will be able to claim world religion status, I think there will be a contest for that position with Islam, at least on the public level. If only they could wipe each other out like the enemies of Israel often did as God came to deliver them in response to… Israel’s prayers and worship. Hey, church come on.
Yes, come on church, bring on the genocide against gay people and Muslims, aided, supported and applauded by Bill Muehlenberg, who won't even tolerate the presence of gay people at a football game.

RIP 'Your Comment Is Awaiting Moderation'

Well, we had a good run. Sadly, the days of taking screenshots of comments "awaiting moderation" are over.

We've obviously been getting to the bigot Bill Muehlenberg, by keeping a catalogue of pending comments he censored, so much that he's changed the way comments are posted on his blog.

This blog has a litany of comments from myself and others that were "awaiting moderation" before Bill censored them out of existence. The only way they were ever seen by any wider audience was by taking screen grabs and posting them up as images here.

Bill relies on censorship to peddle his lies, and will never debate on an open playing field, so it was only a matter of time before he changed the settings so that screenshots of comments disagreeing with him became a thing of the past.

Thankfully, the archive of this blog still holds plenty of examples of comments that exposed the lies, propaganda and bigotry of Muehlenberg that never saw the light of day on Culturewatch.

We will just have to take screen grabs of the raw text instead.

Truth will out, Bill. Even if you try to hide behind your lies for the rest of your days. Good try, though!

Bill's ever closer to that stroke...

If there's one thing guaranteed to get dear old Bill Muehlenberg's blood boiling and the pressure in his arteries reaching critical it's exposure to people who don't think all gays are evil and must be abolished.

Hot from an exchange with a tolerant Christian, Bill took to his blog to vent in How Not To Think (and Do Christianity). He rails:
I have come to realise it is far easier to document cases of brainless idiocy than it is to teach good thinking and reasoning skills.
It turns out the source of "brainless idiocy" is someone who has the temerity to say to Bill that homosexuality really isn't a big deal and worth getting upset about. After a brief exchange, Bill realised he had failed to make this human being see the light and dedicate his whole purpose to the fear and loathing and smearing of gay people. Says poor old Bill,
At this point I realised that I was dealing with trolls, or believers so ignorant and sucked into the world, that I was just wasting my time.
Because anyone who dares to disagree with Bill, about anything, is a "brainless idiot" or a "troll". Sheesh, the arrogance of this guy.

In the comments, David Agnes inadvertently hits the hornets' nest:
The truth is, Bill, I think most people, especially those under the age of 30, see homosexuality as a non-issue.
He's right. That is true. Poll after poll show that homophobic attitudes are far more prevalent in the 60+ generations in Western countries, and, whilst still problematic, comparatively negligible in under 30s. It's a simple statement of fact!

It is, however, a fact Muehlenberg has no wish to hear, less still to face.

You'll notice that Muehlenberg never, ever speaks courteously to anyone who i) disagrees with him or ii) presents an awkward truth. He starts his reply parroting like a petulant schoolboy:
The truth is, David, God is always right and the crowd is usually always wrong.
This is a very revealing comment. Since Bill thinks he's the big expert on "god" and what "god" wants, what he really means is that he is always right and everyone else wrong (unless they agree with him).

Bill's unpleasantness (would it kill him to be courteous?) doesn't end there. He goes on to make a bizarre analogy to slavery (WTF?) and then says:
If you want to actually learn a bit about homosexuality, instead of parroting the world’s lousy counsel, you might start doing some careful reading here. My book could be a starting place.
So here we have the crux of the matter: nobody is entitled to an opinion on homosexuality until they have read Bill's book, and until they agree with his every word!

It must really, really pain someone of Bill's astounding arrogance that his "book" has been almost entirely ignored. It's his life's work, his magnum opus, and the response has been a massive shrug of the shoulders, tumbleweeds, and crickets chirping. It must have been a terrible blow to his massive ego. Still, the next work of homophobic propaganda will be a bestseller, eh, Bill?

A peculiar creature, and a regular poster on CultureWatch, then weighs in, a certain Joel van der Horst:
If the average Australian ever knew any gay men (which I do having once identified as gay) they’d realise how shallow, petulant, bigoted, unhealthy, and vacuous they are. Will and Grace is a deliberately false representation of the average gay person, the fact is the prime cause of the high suicide rate amongst young gay and lesbian people in Australia are how they are treated by other gay men and women.
What utter rubbish. The high suicide rate amongst gay teens is almost entirely down to rejection and bigotry from parents who place their own idiotic superstitions above the health and happiness of their children. Still, don't let facts get in the way, Joel. This guy thinks all gay people without exception are evil, and apparently he "used to be" gay. I bet he's the "ex-gay" that Muehlenberg regularly touts as "proof" that sexuality (or rather, only ever homosexuality) is a "choice".

Here's a picture of our Joel:

Now I'm not going to be cruel, but he looks not a million miles from being a mini-Bill Muehlenberg. It's not too big a leap of the imagination to understand why he doesn't get much cock and finds life easier lying to himself whilst surrounded by the happy-clappy brigade who are more than happy to back up his delusions. "Look, this guy said three hail marys and he's no longer gay. Praise Jesus! Hallelujah!" Seriously - how deluded would you have to be?

Anyway, I'm getting off track. Joel goes on:
I really care for my gay friends, and it saddens me how much emotional, mental, and physical turmoil they suffer as a result of choosing to practice such unhealthy behaviour.
Riiiiight. Gay friends. Joel, if you had any friends (gay or otherwise), they'd tell you that sexuality isn't a choice. You can keep deluding yourself if you wish, but all you're doing is lashing out at those who don't share your self-delusion that sexuality can be "chosen". Be honest, you don't have any friends outside of the pensioners and freaks you go to church with, do you?
As for the statement about “winning the argument” Bill already has… the fact that he cops abuse just for presenting the facts demonstrates that Christophobic, militant gay activists and other secular bigots have no intellectual case to present in favour of their position.
Sure, Joel. Anyone who is happy to share society with gay people and grant them equal rights and opportunities is clearly driven by "Christophobia". Keep massaging your bruised ego. Nice that Bill has "won" the argument. That would clearly explain why governments in the western world are increasingly extending equality legislation in favour of their LGBT citizens. We can all hope that Bill keeps on "winning" at this speed.

Agnes then attempts a response, pointing out to Joel that if his figure of 2% for the gay population is true, then if people know more than 50 other folk, they're likely to know a gay person. The sheer temerity of Agnes not following up with offers to publically self-flagellate and admit the righteousness of Muehlenberg is enough to push dear old Bill ever closer to his inevitable cardiac arrest. Agnes also asks pertinent questions:
Do you want to see homosexuality decriminalised? Do you acknowledge that there have and always will be gay people in society?
Does he mean "recriminalised"? It would be interesting to hear Bill answer those questions. But by now Bill is just throwing all of his toys out of the pram.
I question whether I can take your remarks too seriously. But if you are asking more than just rhetorical questions here, I repeat my advice: get my book (or one like it) and read it carefully. When you have done that, come back here if you want more discussion. But the fact that you now seem so utterly clueless as to both your own faith and the militant homosexual agenda shows us that you need to start properly educating yourself – and soon.
That's Agnes told. Muehlenberg's quite the charmer, isn't he?

What's interesting is that Muehlenberg doesn't answer his (not remotely rhetorical) questions. In fact, whenever he's put on the spot about what exactly his gay-hate "ministry" aims to achieve, he evades. Does he want to see homosexuality criminalised? Would he support the stoning to death of gay people? He states that he doesn't think gay people are entitled to any rights or legal protection, but does that extend to the right to life? And what is his purpose in keeping his gay-hate blog, or is it just to vent his strange obsession and psychosis with other people's private lives?

Joel then reappears and confirms what we all know: homophobia is a direct result of ignorance.
The gay community like all minority communities congregate in certain locales within inner-city suburb, in Melbourne predominantly in Prahran, Brunswick and East St Kilda… unless a person lives, or works within the municipalities of these townships one is unlikely to know personally any gay people.
What absolute twaddle. Gay people are born and bred all over every country, even if they may later in life move to a city (like a lot of other people). But Joel is inadvertently admitting that homophobia is fear of the unknown.
Questioning the legitimacy of the less than 2% figure for Australians who identify as gay and Lesbian does you no favours David.
Um, I've re-read Agnes' comments, and he doesn't question this, but as Joel and Bill demonstrate, Christians never let the facts get in the way of a good two-minutes' hate.
The fact that you don’t this demonstrates to all of Bill’s readers not only your ignorance, but your secular bigotry.
Not sure that sentence even makes sense, Joel; but Bill is happy for Joel to call Agnes a "bigot" after two very tame comments. Remarkable. Yet Bill insists that it's only the "other side" who go in for "ad hominems" and "mud-slinging". Bill is quite happy for commentators who don't entirely agree with him to be called a "bigot".

What a nest of hypocrites.

Joel then says,
I don’t know that I was characterising gay people negatively, I was challenging your opinion that meeting a gay person would change an individuals ideas about the gay people…it won’t.
Let's remind ourselves of how he talks about all gay people:
If the average Australian ever knew any gay men (which I do having once identified as gay) they’d realise how shallow, petulant, bigoted, unhealthy, and vacuous they are.
Really, Joel? Not characterising them negatively? You fucking liar.

But Joel has a question:
what do you think you are going to achieve by throwing your gay lobby sloganeering, fact-free misinformation around Bill’s website??
In other words, how dare someone come along and question the infallible Bill Muehlenberg?

The sanctimonious Vic Trudeau weighs in:
When you’re hard pressed on every side, isn’t it wonderful the way others are there to take up the fight? Good on ya, Joel!
Only Joel's not there to hear the praise. He's too busy rimming Bill Muehlenberg. What remarkable teamwork. Somebody comes along with awkward questions. They evade them all and call the questioner a bigot and an idiot, and then slap themselves on the back for a job well done in protecting their nasty delusions.

Can anyone think of a single pleasant or courteous Culturewatch regular?

It's little wonder Xtianity is rapidly becoming the preserve of freaks and weirdoes, and ordinary people are reaching out with compassion to their LGBT brothers and sisters. Xtians, your inherent nastiness is winning the culture "war" for us. Keep up the good work. And don't have a stroke...

Muehlenberg's playing toy soldiers again

When I was a boy I used to love taking slow strolls with my Polish grandfather. After WWII he never returned to his home country again. Our route often took us past a church, and we both liked to sit on the form outside and enjoy the quiet. I knew my grandfather was an atheist because I once asked him if he believed in god. Everyone I knew believed in god - I went to a Christian school.

"No," he said. "There's no god. And if you'd seen the things I'd seen you'd know why I say that."

When I was a teenager my grandfather used to take longer looking at a particular row of graves, and often his eyes would mist up. Sometimes he'd weep. There were Polish names on the gravestones, those of pilots who had been shot down and were buried in a foreign country.

"Did you know them?" I asked. He didn't, and I couldn't then understand how he could be upset, so many years later, for people he never even knew.

My grandfather despised people like Bill Muehlenberg, who came along a generation later, missed out on the war and have developed a cod matcho posturing ever since to try to make up for it. As far as I'm aware, the two men never met (my grandfather died in 2001) but I'd be willing to bet my mortgage he would have had no time for Muehlenberg. He was a gentle man, as well as a gentleman, so he would not have been rude about Muehlenberg, as I frequently am: but he would have "not given him the time of day" - an expression reserved for people my grandfather strongly disliked.

Why do I give this personal testimony? In D-Day: Courage for the Battle, Muehlenberg says:
Next week will be the 70th anniversary of D-Day....
I wonder where he's going with this...
And as always, it speaks to me so deeply of vitally important spiritual truths, such as the fact that we are in a war, in enemy-occupied territory in fact...
Oh, ok. You're at war are you, Bill? You're not living freely in a democratic country without knowing poverty and without ever needing for anything?

He goes on to claim that "The spiritual war we are in is really no different" (to WWII, would you believe. Well, my grandfather and men of his generation who lost their lives, their innocence, their friends would disagree. So would my father, who was brought up on rationing without a father who had been killed. So would anybody sane who knows what a war actually is, what it entails, and how the word cannot be used lightly):
Our spiritual enemy Satan has sought to enslave the entire world, robbing us of our freedom, our dignity, and our humanity. 2000 years ago a spiritual D-Day was launched. At Calvary God through his Son Jesus declared that a major fight back was now under way. It is a hard and difficult campaign, and there have been many casualties along the way.
Oh really, Bill? What have you been deprived of? The legal right to refuse to allow gay people to marry, or to offer them service? You have to share the planet with Muslims and atheists? You think this compares in any way to the very real hardships and sacrifices people made in order to allow you to live the easy life that you have?
All around us we see men and women and children held captive by the evil enemy. People are dying, and bleeding, and deceived, and enchained.
Really, Bill? Really? Are you talking about Christians in Iraq or Pakistan here? Or are you talking about molycoddled infantile bullies like you? Show us the blood. Show us the corpses. Show us the chains. Tell us one thing that you're not at liberty to do. Pass me a violin whilst you're at it.

If his D-Day comparison isn't nauseating and obscene enough, Muehlenberg's hyperbole reaches new levels of absurdity in That Knock on the Door in the Middle of the Night:
One of the most frightening and characteristic features of a police state is the terrible occurrence of being woken in the middle of the night by state security forces. Whether it was Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, or Mao’s China, this was an ever-present reality and fear for many millions of ordinary citizens. And the means by which democracy is slowly but surely disappearing are very sneaky, incremental, and piece-meal. We don’t even know it is happening...
Because it isn't, you fool. It's all in your paranoid and delusional head.
Thus we have things like anti-discrimination laws; equal opportunity legislation; racial and religious vilification acts; and so-called hate speech laws springing up everywhere in the West. Again, they sound like they might be useful things to have, but they are mostly nefarious laws which are mainly aimed at silencing unpopular people with unpopular opinions.
They're laws to protect people from bullies like you who would see homosexuality criminalised, Islam forced underground and atheists, gay people and Muslims losing their jobs for daring to not agree with you. They are laws to protect innocent people against the kind of terror, tyranny and fascist oppression that you so ironically think is inflicted on you because the law prevents you from bullying.

Who does Muehlenberg think is responsible for the fascist state he alleges we like in?
The forces of political correctness – most notably the radical homosexual lobby and the Islamic lobby – have used these laws to silence all opposition to their causes. My new book will document hundreds of examples of this happening at the hands of the radical homosexualists.
A new book! Whoppee. He's hoping to smash sales of his first book by 33% and have three people buy it. If it's as deranged and fantastical as his blog posts we'd all be in for a treat. And what are "radical homosexualists" whilst we're at it? How do they differ from gay guys?
Friends, we are in a war. Every day the other side is getting further emboldened to carry out their fascist agendas.
Yes, Bill, it's statements like that that reveal your true colours. The tragedy is that such a foolish man is taken seriously enough to be invited onto radio talk shows to give an opinion. He is a dangerously deluded man.
And all the while, most Christians are snoozing right through all this. They don’t seem to know and they don’t seem to care. And they have blood on their hands as a result.
If there is a knock on the door, Bill, it'll most likely be the men in white coats, waiting with sedatives and a straight-jacket. You are not worthy to lick the boots of my grandfather, a man who made real and hard sacrifices. Your claims for victim status are as revolting as they are fanciful. Stop playing at toy soldiers and feeling sorry for yourself because gay people and Muslims are now allowed to live in peace. Concern yourself with real, genuine injustices that are happening in the world.

Bill spends vacation looking at homoerotic art

Bill Muehlenberg has recently been in Rome, which is why he's been a bit quiet over on his gay-hate site for the past few weeks. He's just posted up Schaeffer, Art and the Christian to tell his disciples about his vacation.

He seems to have spent the entirety of his holiday taking in art. The picture he's used in his post is of Michelangelo's David - one of the most homoerotic pieces in art history. The statue, by gay artist Michelangelo, is a tribute to the perfection of the male body.

He mentions a few other artists, most of whom were also gay, and then claims that everything they produced was "Christian" art. Even though he regularly argues that one can't be gay and Christian. Apparently they can when it's convenient, or when they're long dead. Go figure.

Anyway, it's an odd claim coming from a man who spends his holiday gorping at the naked male form.

Well, they do say that the worst forms of homophobia are triggered by self-hate.

PZ Myers tears a strip off Muehlenberg!

Evolutionary biologist and atheist PZ Myers has taken a devastating swipe at Bill Muehlenberg and one of his latest articles over on his Pharyngula website. Check it out!

Bill's angry and unnecessarily cruel article High Court Rules Against Biology – And Redefines Reality To Boot has caught PZ's eye. In the article, Muehlenberg lambasts high court judges for allowing a Sydney resident, Norrie, to be identified as gender neutral.
So, Bill Muehlenberg, defender of science, what exactly have these wicked activist judges done in defiance of all evidence?
That's the question PZ sarcastically asks, before cutting Muehlenberg down to size with a single withering paragraph:
But hey, Bill, you have another problem. It’s very kind of you to rush to defend ‘science’ (or rather, your unfortunately ill-informed version of it), but if you’re so enamored of it that you wield it as a shield and bulwark to defend your personal bigotry against homosexuals and transgendered people, how come you’re also attacking evolutionary biology?
Loving your work, PZ! And thanks for the helping hand.

Some of the comments on Pharyngula look all too familiar, when the aptly-named theignored left a comment for Bill:
Neither of my comments seems to have made it through. Fundies are hypocrites when it comes to free speech issues, it seems.

Quite! Bill will always censor when he has no answer. On that theme, I posted a link to PZ Myers' puncturing of his article over on CultureWatch and suggested Bill go along and publically debate Myers over the issue, and who knows, on evolution and other areas of science too.

Guess what? Bill didn't. He will never openly debate because he knows the truth is not on his side and his bigotry and foolishness will be easily exposed.

Whoops! Quick Bill, hide the evidence!

Muehlenberg recently gave a very good example of how he operates. He tells a load of lies, and then somebody comes along with the inconvenient truth and a load of evidence to prove Bill wrong - and he censors and silences them.

It's the same old story with old Bill. On his blog he frequently throws out the accusation that the "other side" in the "war" he is "fighting" present no evidence and rely solely on "mud-slinging". But then, as I frequently document on this blog, Bill Muehlenberg is a liar and a hypocrite.

As it happens his latest assault on truth couldn't have happened at a worse time for him. He penned a piece called "Rebutting the Climate Alarmism Idealogues" in which he denies that man-made climate change is actually happening, almost immediately after two major scientific bodies, The Royal Society and the US National Academy of Sciences have issues a joint paper on the evidence for climate change!

I posted a comment stating that the two scientific bodies had recently presented the evidence for climate change and included a link to it. Bill's answer? Yep, same old censorship tactic: my comment "awaited moderation" for a week before quietly disappearing.

So much for Muehlenberg wanting "open" and "honest debate". So much for his moans that "the other side" (that's us, BTW) don't present evidence to rebut his crazy arguments. When the evidence is presented to him, he runs a mile because he knows that he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Of course there's nothing new about science ignoramuses like Muehlenberg and his religious buddies having the arrogance to dismiss a priori evidence for matters like climate change. Just as Richard Dawkins has said about Ray Comfort's attempts to discredit evolution: if a genuine challenge to Darwin will ever be found, it will come from a scientist and not from an idiot. The same is true of Muehlenberg's empty posturing and denial. When uncomfortable facts that don't fit his worldview are clearly presented, he runs a mile, because his opinions on the subject are solely that.

Here's a screengrab to my comment which fell foul of Bill's scrupulous "rules":

And here's a link to the Royal Society's statement that Bill has no answer to:

Muehlenberg's hypocrisy gauge reaches critical

Bill Muehlenberg is moaning about those nasty gays again.
We now know perfectly well that the homosexual juggernaut is not about ‘live and let live,’ but about the complete and total beating into submission of all those who resist the militants’ agenda
he whines. Though if you change the word "homosexual" for "Christian" then that would be an apt description of Bill's agenda, since he doesn't even think gay people have any right to exist.
And increasingly they have harnessed the might of the State to support them, coercing any and all recalcitrants to fall into line or else,
he goes on to moan. What he means is that he finds it thoroughly objectionable that any state gives equal rights to its tax-paying LGBT citizens.

His solution seems to be along the lines of the proposed legislation in Arizona:
One recent flashpoint over all this is a new bill designed to promote freedom of conscience. Arizona Senate Bill 1062 which was passed last week by the legislature and awaits the Governor’s approval would allow certain groups to not have to provide services for events they object to for religious reasons.
So Muehlenberg wants to harness the might of the state to coerce recalcitrants to his Xtain agenda to force them to fall into line, or else... exactly as he accuses gay people of doing!

As usual, Muehlenberg fails to see the staggering depths of his own hypocrisy.

The thing is I don't know any - literally none - and can find no examples of gay people being unwilling to provide services for straight weddings. Nor do I know of any Arizona atheists who wanted the proposed bill to become law so that they could refuse services to Christians whose supernatural notions insult their intelligence. That's because for all Muehlenberg's bleatings about the "gaystapo" and the "pink jackboot" and "misotheists" - gay people and atheists are vastly more tolerant of Christians and their ridiculous ideas and are prepared to live and let live, asking for no special legal rights to discriminate.

What a shame Christians are so petty-minded and hateful they can't follow the gay and atheist examples and reciprocate the tolerance; which is why they try to ask for legal dispensation to discriminate against gay people using the strong arm of the law.

Muehlenberg despises equal rights for gay people and lobbies to prevent gay people from enjoying the same rights he enjoys, such as marriage. He sees gay people campaigning for equal rights as aggressive and intolerant. At the same time, he endorses Putin's brutal draconian homophobic measures, and the massive increase in gay hate crimes and murders in Russia. He's all for state intervention whenever it's promoting his bigoted worldview. He's welcome to come here and defend himself - but his hypocrisy is indefensible and here laid bare for all to see.

Check out the comments where Muehlenberg and the other haters are whining that the bill has been vetoed, for a hilarious gnashing of bitter fundie teeth.

Muehlenberg's hypocrisy over "freedom of speech"

Within the space of the same 1428-word article, Christian bigot Bill Muehlenberg demonstrates the depths of his breathtaking hypocrisy.

He starts "More Ugly Anti-Christian Bigotry" with an attack upon his favourite target - gay people:
The homosexual ‘tolerance’ brigade is without question the most bigoted, nasty, and hate-filled bunch of folks you will ever encounter. Their mission is simple: in the attempt to force their lifestyle on the rest of society.
Bill, as he so often says, hates "name-calling" and "mud-slinging", which, he often says, is "how the other side argues". Here he just states that gay people are the scum of the earth and asserts that they aim to "force their lifestyle on the rest of society", which is, of course, quite different.

What does Muehlenberg mean by this? Does he mean that gay people are trying to convert the rest of society into being gay? Surely even Bill, notorious for his wild hyperbole and blatant lies, can't really mean that. He probably means that gay people are aiming to live their lives with dignity and not suffer discrimination at the hands of oppressors like religious people, simply on account of their innate sexuality. Yes, shame on them!
And the real cause of this anti-Christian bigotry? Yep, you guessed it: the gaystapo.
Just a quick reminder that Muehlenberg hates name-calling and only "the other side" engages in grotesque attacks that seek to dehumanise the opposition. He wouldn't dream of using such tactics!

From the horse's mouth:
Probably the major way in which the other side engages our side is through the cheap route of name-calling, mud-slinging, verbal abuse and nasty intimidation. Simply swearing a lot, calling names a lot, and getting all hot and sweaty seems to be a major approach of our ideological opponents.
Yes, that doesn't sound at all like you, Bill. What a hypocrite.

So what have the gay people been up to that has Muehlenberg reaching for the tranquillizers again?

Nothing, it turns out. A Catholic has been dismissed from the Australian Army for pushing a political homophobic agenda to exclude gay people from Christian schools. Such an act of bigotry (one that Muehlenberg approves of - he actively campaigns for the exclusion of gay people from society too) is, unsurprisingly, contrary to the demands of his employment, so the dismissed officer can't have grounds for complaint. It's hardly unreasonable for a public sector employer to expect its employees to behave in an inclusive manner and be respectful to all sections of the society they serve.

Muehlenberg then goes on to get his knickers in a twist about the Adelaide Fringe Festival which has a show called "Come Heckle Jesus". Muehlenberg whinges:
why in the world should tax-payers be forced to subsidise this filthy bit of sacrilege? If Christ-haters think it is so very neat, then let them pay for it. Why should tax-payers – the overwhelming majority of whom are Christians – be forced to pay for this crap?
Why the hell should rationalists have to pay for Xtian organizations, which are generally tax exempt? This seems not to have occurred to Muehlenberg. He's too angry about a piece of theatre he's under no obligation to see:
I encourage everyone to make a stink about this.
You can contact them here and make your concerns known...
It is high time that Christians rise out of their slumber, and start being a bit concerned when their Lord and Saviour is treated like absolute dirt – especially when SA Christians have to subsidise this ugly attack.
And so he goes on. It's extraordinary that Muehlenberg, who is consistently whinging about a perceived threat to "freedom of speech" whenever right-wing nutters don't get away with abusing, berating and excluding their popular hate-figures (usually gay people), now tries to censure and ban a public performance simply because he personally disapproves of it and it's not to his taste.

Reader Megan Pyne writes:

I wrote to Robert Brokenshire MLC of the Family First Party and he agreed the show was ‘disgraceful’ and said that they would write to the Premier requesting the show be withdrawn.

You would expect Bill to reply saying, "hang on, even though we might not approve of this performance, other people are entitled to freedom of speech and expression, and nobody who doesn't want to see the show will be forced to attend". But no. He's keen to shut down anyone who doesn't endorse his view of Christianity and his agenda.

Here are a few choice quotes from Bill about freedom of speech:
The good thing about a democracy is that all sides of hotly debated topics can get a hearing. Or at least that is how it is supposed to work.  But increasingly when one side tries to get a hearing, the other side will come around and seek to shut them down, or at least shout them down.
Many of the anti-discrimination, anti-vilification, and equal opportunity laws are in fact a direct threat not just to freedom of speech but to freedom of conscience and freedom of religion as well.
You see, the activists who speak the most about tolerance are in fact the least tolerant of any opposing points of view. What they really want is to shut down all public debate, and ban all opposing points of view. They delight in calling differing points of view “hate speech” and they want every person who dares to disagree with them to be subject to “hate crimes” legislation.
It seems Bill Muehlenberg believes freedom of speech should only be extended to people who agree with and endorse the personal opinions of Bill Muehlenberg. The moment anyone wishes to say something that Muehlenberg doesn't want to hear (even when he's not obliged to hear it), then, according to Muehlenberg himself, they must be silenced so none can hear.

It's amazing that Muehlenberg and his nest of vipers don't recognise their own staggering hypocrisy; but then hyposcrisy is, and always has been, a key characteristic of the religious, as Bill Muehlenberg frequently demonstrates.

Society consists only of right-wing Xtians, according to Muehlenberg

Bill entitles an article "Children Targeted by the Militants". From his hyperbole, you could be forgiven for imagining that it must be about children being rounded up and dragged off to concentration camps.

What it's actually about is a Disney Channel kids' show called Good Luck Charlie, which - wait for it! - is to feature a lesbian couple with a child.

This is something Bill describes as "worrying", and indicative that:
Disney [are] pushing the boundaries as part of the pro-homosexual indoctrination campaign.
Bill goes on to make clear that:
Not everyone is happy with this bit of radical social engineering and the indoctrination of children.
stating that bigoted group One Million Moms claims:
Disney should stick to entertaining instead of pushing an agenda… Conservative families need to urge Disney to exclude confusing topics that children are far too young to comprehend.
All this gnashing of teeth from the right-wing simply because Disney have written a gay couple into the show.

Newsflash 1: gay people exist. Gay people and gay parents form part of society and contribute to it. Most people under the age of 65 don't consider the presence of gay people to be "radical" or indicative of an "agenda" or "social engineering". Stop looking for conspiracies in reality, Bill!

Newsflash 2: Many television dramas seek to accurately represent society. In the 1960s there were hardly any black people on television. These days, black, Chinese and every other race are quite rightly represented in dramas, as are gay people, atheists, etc.

What Bill and his kind actually want to see is a total Xtian monopoly on broadcasting, so that only people just like them - conservative, Xtian, white and heterosexual - are portrayed on television: all for the good of society (of course). The ultimate aim of Bill's agenda of hate against the LGBT community is to exclude gay people from society altogether, and he thinks it's "worrying" and part of an "agenda" that gay characters appear in television dramas.

I can't think of any gay people who would seek, or are actively campaigning to exclude television companies from representing Christian characters in their dramas. But then again, gay people are much more tolerant and liberal than extremists like Bill, and are quite happy to live and let live. It's a shame bigots like Bill can't show the same respect and tolerance in turn.

What One Million Moms (and Bill, who quoted and endorsed them) really mean when they urge television companies to:
exclude confusing topics that children are far too young to comprehend.
is that they want excluded all topics that they personally disapprove of. As we already know, Bill supports freedom of speech, but only when it's his freedom of speech that's threatened. Anybody else, he wants to exclude and censor entirely.

Children aren't naturally bigoted, and the real concern of bigots like Bill is that if children see a positive depiction of gay people in their favourite shows, their kids may grow up to - shock horror! - not be bigots like their parents and learn that there's nothing wrong with gay people or with being gay. And then where would the parents' delusions be?!

So long as Bill and his kind campaign for social exclusion of non-Christians, he remains a threat to freedom of speech, freedom of expression, democracy and public decency.

Muehlenberg Lies About Michael Swift

In his article, "Children Targeted By The Militants", Muehlenberg opens this way:
Homosexuals of course cannot reproduce – they can only recruit.
It's a sentence that manages to combine lying with logical fallacies. Homosexuals can't reproduce? Why, are they all infertile? Homosexuals can and do reproduce - there is such a thing as gay parenting and gay adoption! Yet Muehlenberg is wholly against that. Assuming they can't reproduce, why does Muehlenberg think it logically follows that they must therefore "recruit"?

This is evil nonsense, and a lie Muehlenberg has peddled repeatedly. He thinks if he repeats a lie often enough, people will start to believe it. The idiots who post on his site don't know how to think for themselves so they will probably lap up this sort of egregious lie. Homosexuality is naturally occurring. There have always been gay people. There will always be gay people as long as there is the human race. Gay people have no need to recruit, even if such an absurd proposition were possible, because the percentage of homosexuals in society is roughly the same throughout time.

Muehlenberg should actually take up his beef with all the straight couples who keep giving birth to gay children!

Muehlenberg is so confused about human sexuality he seems to think if a younger man is "touched" by an older man, he'll magically turn gay (and note Muehlenberg once again spreads another favourite lie of his - that there is a connection between male homosexuality and paedophilia). Sadly for him, sexuality doesn't work like that. One is either gay, straight, or somewhere in between. It's also disturbing that he's willing to spread the lie and the stigma that gay people have been sexually abused as children, or else had poor relationships with their father, which is why they are gay. This is utter foolishness, and wrongly stigmatises loving parents. It's all part of Muehlenberg's vicious agenda of hatred against gay people and those who have no problem with the existence of gay people, so he's quite happy to push the lies and stigmatise parents and friends of gay people in this way.

He then goes on to quotemine from Michael Swift's 1987 satirical essay "Gay Revolutionary" and makes the suggestion that it was meant seriously, calling it a "declaration of war against our children". You'll notice he doesn't even name the author of the essay or its title, because he's too afraid people will go away and look it up and realise that it's a work of satire! Right wing people invariably have a sense of humour bypass, and Muehlenberg is certainly no exception, but you'd have to be stupid to quote from this obviously ironic essay and suggest it's the ultimate aim of gay people!

Muehlenberg also commits the sin of omission with it because, as well as avoiding citing the author or title, he doesn't quote the first line that tells the reader it's a fantasy:
This essay is an outré, madness, a tragic, cruel fantasy, an eruption of inner rage, on how the oppressed desperately dream of being the oppressor.
I'd say Michael Swift is pretty explicit about his intention, wouldn't you? For more on Muehlenberg's faulty "source", see Wikipedia and the Fordham University website, and you can see just how twisted he is to quote from a satirical work that is 27 years old and pretend it represents the wishes of the gay community:

Muehlenberg is upset because apparently Disney have made a TV show that doesn't exclusively show white, middle-class, heterosexual Christians. How dare Disney actually represent minorities! He quotes from right-wing pressure group One Million Moms:
Conservative families need to urge Disney to exclude confusing topics that children are far too young to comprehend.
What they (and he) mean is that it's too much for them to comprehend! Bigots like Muehlenberg know full well that young children aren't inherently bigoted, and that if they're educated about gay people they'll accept them as perfectly normal. That's what terrifies the bigots.

So what they want instead is to recruit children into the Christian lifestyle, to get to them young enough so they can twist their minds into being nasty, antisocial bigots, just like them.

There's only one group hellbent on recruiting children. It's not gay people: it's religious nutters.

Leave our kids alone, Muehlenberg. We don't need more of your type in this world.

Muehlenberg ends saying, "This is a war which we did not start." That would be because it's only a "war" that exists inside your paranoid, delusional head. War! Get a grip.

Bill Muehlenberg and the Sin of Omission

In his desperate rush to blame anything and everything on gay people, Muehlenberg, in his article "A Culture of Bullying and Intolerance" - where, remarkably, he isn't talking about himself - he opens with characteristic understatement:
We now know without the slightest doubt that the homosexual militants are a pack of bullies who thrive on intimidation, stand-over tactics, and thuggery. And they are clearly one of the most intolerant groups on the planet. They have declared war on every single person on earth who refuses to bow down before their agenda.
Most people in the west at least don't have the slightest problem with gay people, yet the sheer fact that they exist is such an affront to Muehlenberg that his rage spills over into this ludicrous hyperbole. Apparently gay people have "declared war". Well, I don't see any tanks or bloodshed, do you?

So what's grinding Muehlenberg's gears this time? It's the suspension of uneducated bigoted redneck Phil Robertson from the A&E show "Duck Dynasty" for certain comments he made:
For having the audacity to actually proclaim in public what the Bible says about the issue of homosexuality, all hell has broken loose, with the A&E network suspending Phil Robertson from his own show a few weeks ago. A storm of protest rightly erupted over this nasty bit of intolerance, and the network was forced to back down.
You'd think, judging by Muehlenberg's claim, that all Robertson did was attack gay people, and that right-wing Christian nutters have fought back, defending Robertson's right to be a homophobic cunt. This is indeed what Muehlenberg states:
It all serves as yet another clear illustration of the culture of intolerance and bullying which has sprung up all over the West, primarily at the hands of the militant homosexual lobby. They think they own the world, and can push their agenda with impunity, and smash all dissent along the way.
He then uses his favourite insult against gay people, "homonazis" (Bill hates name-calling, of course, but only when it's directed against Christian nutters. Hypocrisy, as ever, the bedfellow of the religionist), and claims:
...for every action there is a reaction, and most folks in America at least have had a gutful of these bullies trying to coerce everyone else to embrace their perverted agenda.
Perverted agenda! Nice! So much for tolerance, decency and respect.

It's what Bill doesn't mention that's telling. I left a comment on his website asking him for his opinion on Phil Robertson's racist comments.

Yes, as well as making deeply homophobic comments, Robertson also made deeply racist comments, claiming that black people were just fine before the Civil Rights Movement. Here's what he said:
I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field.... They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.
So according to Phil Robertson, Martin Luther King was wasting his time, and Rose Parks should have given up her seat on the bus.

What's fascinating is that the Christian zealots who have come out in force, Muehlenberg included, have COMPLETELY IGNORED these racist comments, and instead used Robertson's bigoted interview to defend their own deeply bigoted views. A generation ago, these Christians would have used their "faith" to defend their racist views. Now they know they can't get away with it, so they turn to the last outpost for their "acceptable" ugly bigotry - homophobia.

Muehlenberg, and all the other Xtian zealots, casually pretend that Phil Robertson didn't make any racist comments, and completely IGNORE this aspect of his interview, telling their followers that Robertson was merely defending his faith by launching an attack on the dignity of gay people.

It is pathetic that Muehlenberg is so desperate to attack gay people at every conceivable opportunity that he would stoop as low as this, deliberately being economical with the truth and deliberately deceiving his readers as to what Robertson said.

In the same interview, Robertson compares Shintoism, the Japanese religion of ancestral worship, to Nazism. He's not just bigoted about gay people, but black people and the Japanese too. Nice guy.

Muehlenberg sees Robertson's re-instatement to the reality show as a victory for "free speech" - even though Phil Robertson is entitled to his opinion, and other people (A&E, say) are entitled to suspend him for his expression of free speech, which is no infringement upon his rights.

Muehlenberg would probably also agree with some of Phil Robertson's other statements, such as that men should take their wives when they're no older than 16, so that they can better control them. Yet you can bet your last dollar that if Robertson were gay and talking about finding a male partner, Muehlenberg would have jumped up and down claiming paedophilia. Such is the selectiveness and hypocrisy of Muehlenberg's position, which he expresses through foul language, aggressiveness and deliberate hostility towards gay people.

Muehlenberg is welcome to come here and defend his decision not to mention Phil Robertson's racist comments, and he is welcome to defend his deceit, hypocrisy and bigotry.
